Behind a disappointing grade, a moment of frustration or a loss of confidence is often a student who is capable of more. The difficulty may begin with a missed foundation, an idea that was never fully understood or the need for someone to explain it in a different way.
HKay Academy exists to help students discover that they are capable of learning difficult things, not by lowering expectations or offering shortcuts, but by building the understanding, habits and confidence that lead to meaningful progress.
Hana Khan
Hana Khan founded HKay Academy to help students build understanding and confidence that last beyond the next test. With more than 10 years of experience coaching students, she supports learners in Grades 7–12 in Mathematics, Science and Physics across the Ontario and International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula.
Hana holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from NUCES, as well as an MBA from the University of Bradford. She draws on more than 20 years of corporate experience to connect classroom concepts to practical situations, helping students see why what they learn matters.
Hana’s approach considers student well-being alongside academic progress. She creates a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and sharing what they find difficult. From there, she helps them build the understanding and confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems.

Every student brings different strengths, experiences, challenges and goals. We begin by listening, assessing and understanding before deciding what comes next.

Our coaching is informed by Ontario and International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula expectations and grade-level skills. We connect each student’s immediate needs with the concepts, reasoning and problem-solving they are expected to develop in school.

More than 20 years of corporate experience helps us connect academic concepts with practical thinking. Students learn not only how to complete a process, but why it works and how that understanding can be applied to unfamiliar problems.
